The CMAST Guest House plans call for a two-story wood-framed structure overlooking the Beaufort Sound, situated next to the main CMAST building on the Carteret Community College Campus.

Each story will contain one visiting scientists apartment and four student-housing units. The visiting scientist apartments will have two bedrooms (four total beds) with a shared bathroom, kitchen, dining and living room. The student-housing units will have two rooms (each room with two beds) sharing one shower and toilet room. Each room will have its own sink. The student housing will have a common kitchen, dining, and recreational area with a large porch overlooking the Sound.

Maximum capacity will be 8 visiting scientists and 16 students.
