New Bern, North Carolina
• 2 floors
This project provided a unique opportunity that will likely never exist again in Eastern North Carolina due to the current Neuse Buffer rules not allowing building within 50’ of the water. This project received permitting prior to the amendment and allowed the building to be constructed on a historic industrial wharf projecting out into the river.
The two story restaurant provides ample outdoor deck area for diners and passing boaters and a complete indoor dining facility, seating 90. The second floor includes a lounge and bar with seating space for 60, and offices and a private meeting area. A boardwalk encircles the building, and connects with the New Bern waterfront walkway system.
The building is constructed on a myriad of driven piles which lift the building above the grade and flood elevation. Views from the restaurant, of the Neuse River, are unparalleled in New Bern.
