New Construction
New Bern, North Carolina
• 2,976 sf (house) • 2,800 sf (workshop)

This residence is beautifully located on a tributary of the Trent River in the community of River Bend.

The house was designed with two massive wood trusses that form the backbone of the structure. The trusses were fabricated off site, shipped to the site, and carefully assembled using steel plates and bolts, and lifted into place. They run entirely through the house and form part of the front entrance canopy and rear deck roof. They allow the living space to be opened up to a large curving wall with views of the river.

A detached workshop and garage was constructed set to the side of the main house and the two structures form a harmonious complex of buildings.
