Sumrell, Sugg, Carmichael, Hicks and Hart PA
(Historically Blades Motor Company)
This building was designed around a central partially open office plan punctuated by colonnaded corridors with private offices surrounding the space. Each private office has a transom window allowing light to reach the interior spaces.
The front facade has been restored to its original character using stained wood and glass. A small garden area with bench is situated in the alleyway facing the Athens theater.
This adaptive reuse project was designed in keeping with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation. Since tax credits were applied for, all the remaining significant historic features such as the original windows and mosaic marble floor were carefully restored.
All systems were completely reworked and replaced during this renovation including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, elevator, high speed data ports, and phone.
