Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune
Jacksonville, North Carolina
• 60,000 SF
• 3 floors
This unique center provides care to returning wounded warriors with therapies including neurological, physical, occupational, aquatic, cognitive and mental health under one roof. The center is a privately funded venture located within the Marine Corps Base of Camp Lejeune and will be a LEED Silver project.
The building’s three stories are split by a stunning glassed atrium that connects the two wings of the building. A central rock climbing wall is a focal point of the atrium and rises from the second floor the height of the atrium and will be used in conjunction with other physical therapies.
An aquatic center is located on the third floor and provides a range of hydro therapies with deep and shallow pool areas. The third floor also has large open gym areas which remain flexible for various physical therapy activities. Occupational therapy areas complete with furnished apartment and kitchen provide spaces where simple operations like washing clothes and cooking a meal can be practiced.
Many returning military personnel, especially those suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury, also require extensive neurological and mental health rehabilitative therapies. The Warrior Hope and Care Center provides spaces for evaluation, testing, and treatment of these individuals and their family members.
